Full itinerary

Within 15 minutes, we will have left the busy city center of Amsterdam behind.

We’ll pass meadows, cows, ditches, windmills, dikes, idyllic landscapes, and many colorful tulip fields as we make our way to the world famous Afsluitdijk. This dam connects the two northern provinces, and protects half of the country against the force of the North Sea. It’s also the gateway to the Amsterdam Lake District.

Time to explore this dam! Find out why it’s so important for the Lake District, walk across to see the North sea, climb the monument (a watch tower looking out across both the IJsselmeer and the North Sea), or take a picture with its founder, Mr. Lelie.

Next up is picturesque open air museum “Allingawier”. Make sure your camera’s ready to capture the sights! Meet the villagers and travel back in time with a local guide. Explore the interior of an old Dutch farmhouse, walk across the grasslands, and find out what happened to the lake… A typical Dutch Farmers Lunch will await you at the restaurant (included in the tour).

After lunch, it’s time to visit a traditional Dutch cheese-maker. Here, you will learn all there is to know about cows, making cheese, and the different types of cheese. And of course you will try some delicious Dutch varieties: “Lekker!”

Next up is a traditional working flour mill. Climb all the way up and meet the miller who will tell you everything about his beautifull mill.

Now it’s time for a unique moment: take a walk through the tulip fields. The tulips only bloom for a couple of weeks each spring, so strike a pose, say cheese, and take plenty of pictures.

Once the afternoon draws to a close, it’s time to head back to Amsterdam to enjoy your evening in the city.
