UNESCO World Heritage tour

Within 15 minutes, we will have left the busy city center of Amsterdam behind. This is the start of your UNESCO World Heritage Tour. Learn from expert local guides at several locations and gain unique insights.

We start the day with two UNESCO sites: the world-famous Beemster polder, and the Defence Line of Amsterdam. After that, we stop at the world-famous Afsluitdijk (Enclosure Dam). Enjoy a wonderful view of the IJsselmeer, and cross the dike to the next UNESCO World Heritage Site on the list: the Wadden Sea.

Then it’s off to a picturesque open-air museum, where the locals will welcome you for a trip back in time. After enjoying a typical Dutch Farmers Lunch (included in the tour), it’s time to meet your local guide in Hindeloopen, a beautiful scenic city with only 900 inhabitants. He will show you the secrets of the city and take you to a traditional painter. Of course there’s plenty of free time to explore. Why not take a walk across the dike and buy some traditional souvenirs? Our next stop is another UNESCO treasure: the impressive Ir. D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station, for a grand tour by a local operator. The last UNESCO World Heritage Site on our tour is the former island of Schokland, where a local guide will show you around and explain the island’s impressive history.
