Your driver will await you at the back of This is Holland. Within 15 minutes, we have left the busy city center of Amsterdam behind.
The day starts off in one of the most famous polders of the Netherlands. We go off the beaten paths right away. See what no other tourist sees.
Passing windmills, cows, meadows, ditches, dikes and idyllic landscapes we make our way to the world famous Enclosing Dike. This dam connects the two northern provinces and protects half of the country against the force of the sea. It’s also the gateway to the Amsterdam Lake District.
Time to explore this dam! Find out why it’s so important, walk across to see the Wadden sea, climb the monument (a watch tower looking out across both the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea), or take a picture with its founder, Mr. Lelie.
Then we enter the Amsterdam Lake District, located in the province of Friesland. From here the program will be custom made. Are you interested in exploring picturesque Dutch villages, stoll through the small streets of a hidden city, try some typical Dutch delicacies. Or are you more interested in Dutch watermanagement? MAybe you want to visit the oldest planetarium in the world, visit one of the rare clogg factories and see how cloggs are made, climb a traditional windmill and learn everything there is to know about this unique Dutch piece of architecture. Or do you have something in mind yourself? Or maybe you just want us to surprise you with all the beatiful but undiscovered places the Netherlands has to offer. It’s up to you.
